Prozessvollmacht

Non-PRO German to English Law/Patents
auf den Rechtsstreit gerichtete Prozessvollmacht wurde vorgelegt ....
can make this out but would like confirmation from an expert. Amazingly, there is nothing in the glossary.

letter of office

While power-of-attorney is obvious (and sort of right), in the US, it's as follows: any person in good standing can hold power of attorney for someone (eg. an Alzheimer patient) who cannot take care of his own affairs. However, it must be approved by a court. "Prozessvollmacht" can only be given to an attorney licensed by the bar association to practise before a court. So, it would be "credentials", but this is not the word, either. Correct is for counsel to "submit his letter of office" to the court.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, Klaus (and thanks to alll the others for their valued input). I feel your answer depicts the situation best, the letter of office concerning indeed a lawyer representing an (absentee) client."
