Description of shoes in a women's clothing catalog (no pictures):

Mocassin, spitze Form, silberne Segelschuhdetails

Obviously "sailing shoes" comes to mind, and there are lots entries under this in Google. However I also tend to think of "deck shoes" - which is a very common term in Am. English. I don't know if both or either of these would be the correct translation, however.
Does anyone have any qualified insight as to what Segelschuhe should officially be (Am. English)?

That's the way they are being offered in American mail order catalogs. Numerous Google hits.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, my dears, I think this would be the best in an Am. Eng. catalog. I am not going to enter it in the glossary, however, because of lack of an official, authoritative reference."
