cooling lubrication Explanation: as Kuehlschmierstoff is listed as cooling lubricant, I think cooling lubrication would be appropriate. Ernst, Woerterbuch der industriellen Technik |

using cutting oils Explanation: I've heard a number of words for "Kühlschmiermittel", including: industrial coolants, cutting oils, drilling oils, cutting emulsions, drilling emulsions... I have not heard a word for the action of using these, but there may be one - my part in this was recycling of this stuff. What they are: usually an emulsion of oil, water, and an emulsifier - and all kinds of icky stuff when they're used, but that's another story. They cool and lubricate at the same time, thus preventing the drill or cutting bit from getting too hot. Hope this helps. Uta |

cool lubrication Explanation: Given that "kühl" = cool and that "schmieren" = lubricate (EuroDicAutom) close to the English "smear", then this is no doubt a translation for the term you have posted. For further indication see : www.lubricationproducts.com (an anti friction metal conditioner manufacturer). Lots of hits on alta vista for "cool lubrication".
