This is from a study where various intervention combinations (Propofol, laughing gas, etc) have been tested for effectiveness and side effects.

\"but one note on Wirksamkeit - Wirkung: Wirksamkeit is efficacy, Wirkung effectiveness (they must be distinguished in pharmaceutical context). see e.g. http://www.euro.who.int/europharm/newsletter/20041215_3\"

Thank you! - although I think that to most people the two terms mean the same - 90% of the google hits on \"efficacy effectiveness\" don\'t seem to differentiate the two terms that critically (and in the articel mentioned the two terms sadly only appear in the headline - I tried to extract the discerning characteristics...) :-( : http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&q=efficacy effectiveness&m... , for instance: http://www.re-aim.org/2003/researchers/efficacy_res.html

My PONS shows efficacy -> Wirksamkeit, effectiveness a) Wirksamkeit, Effektivität, b) Wirkung, Effekt.

The asker must determine which one it\'s going to be - it is worth considering though, thanks! :-)
