German term or phrase: Transparenzminderung
"neue Transparenzminderungen im Unterlappen rechts".

Could this term be translated as "reductions in opacity"? Transparency seems to be wrong in this medical context.

Fresh opacities in the right lower lobe

As a radiologist, I prefer using the term 'fresh' rather then 'new' in my reports. A reduction in transparency of the lung is implied, best explained by 'opacity.'
Hope this helps.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you for very quick reply, but why "fresh"? Doesn't the German suffix -minderung suggest a reduction or lessening or decline?
