Compulsory Military Service
From a letter from the Kreiswehrersatzamt to a gentleman, who has been released from the compulsory military service
"Gem. § 24 Wehrpflichtgesetz unterliegen Sie jedoch weiterhin der Wehrüberwachung bis zur Vollendung Ihres 32. Lebensjahres..."
I found counter-espionage service in the Schöffler/Weis, however, I cannot imagine that this is correct in this context.
Thanks for any help with this.

Control (under the Compulsory Military Service Act) (Wehr¨¹berwachung)
Control includes the legal obligation to report change of residence, to report in person, to receive, store and return clothing, and to report pertinent health-related issues/undergo medical examinations. It starts with the pre-induction examination and terminates at the end of the year in the course of which officers turn 60, NCOs turn 45 and other ranks turn 32; if they have a designation for assignment and there is a need for this, control terminates at the end of
¡úcompulsory military service.

: Kim has it right. A good example is what's happening to those poor unfortunates in the US Army's Individual Ready Reserve. To date 5,000 of them have been recalled to active service and are being packed off to Iraq.
