Proposed translations
several possibilities, e. g.
shines with ultimate/dazzling perfection
manages/masters intricate passages smoothly and with ultimate/dazzling perfection
renders a smooth interpretation/performance (of a technically difficult work, or a complex work difficult to access/understand)
The major difficulty I see in the use of glätten here arises from the fact that it requires an object which is absent from the sentence. This, to be honest, makes it difficult for me to decide whether or not glätten conveys any distinct meaning beyond praise of mastership at all. Thus you can choose between
(a) replacing glätten with sth more usual (s. suggestions 1 + 2)
and
(b) somehow integrating the impression of smoothness in a way which can be understood; then you would have to decide in more detail what is geglättet by the artist (s. suggestions 3 + 4); without further info (especially on the work/composer in question) I would not recommend to do so.

In the light of your other questions concerning the same text (?), I would now prefer the last option ("delivers a smooth interpretation/performance"), maybe even strengthening the subtle criticism by saying "produces a smooth surface" or the like.

Robert Feuerlein
: Go for suggestion 3 or 4. The object is mentioned : "Schön rund und ausgewogen ( geglättet ) ist zuvor die zweite der Konzertetuden". So it is about the ' Konzertetuden' and what the musician does to them.
