Ich würde hier "Internet" benutzen, da es ja auch noch Intranet gibt.
Die Wendung heißt "to surf the Internet", ohne "in" (Mußte beim Studium in Amerika einen Aufsatz schreiben, hab die gleiche Formulierung verwendet und die Prof hat es so korrigiert...)

I cannot enter any comments or grades, therefore I wanted to react this way on Francesco's disagreement: If you use the expression in a talk with friends or while chatting, Francesco's version is very good. But if it's used in a curriculum vitae, I would suggest the official and usual version of "Internet".
Just didn't know for what it is used for.
