I am trying to find out the translation of one of my realitives last names

Hi Saskia,
The name does not exist as a word in the more or less official German dictionary, DUDEN, or in any other dictionaries I have. The "Schnei" part could come from the verbs for "to tailor" or for "to snow" but I doubt it. The "kart" part could come from the noun for "card", but again I doubt it. It is a fairly common name though, if you try it in one of the big search engines you might find a relative. - Sorry I couldn't help. - Dan
