German term or phrase: Unterfluessigkeitsmotor
It appears to be a motor where the rotor is exposed to a liquid. I found 'wetted-type motor' in some catalogue.
Can anyone confirm or give alternatives?
Rolf Bueskens
Submersible motor
Explanation:
Generally a motor which can be run under some fluid, eg water, but not necessarily. It has hermetically sealed electrical parts, and the rotor is enclosed in a non-magnetic enclosure, which transmits the rotating magnetic field, but contains the liquid. Therefor, no seals to wear out and leak, and virtually maintenance free.
Iain.
