It should be Allen, not Allan Explanation: My apologies! There is a mistake in my edition of the English > German volume of Ernst – Wörterbuch der industriellen Technik. Above I suggested "Allan key" or "Allan wrench" as written in Ernst English > German, but it should be "Allen key" (BE) or "Allen wrench" (AE). Uel has the correct spelling above. Not only the German > English volume of Ernst – Wörterbuch der industriellen Technik but more importantly NODE – The New Oxford Dictionary of English confirms the spelling with "e". Sorry 'bout that! "Werkzeugtasche" = "tool bag / case / kit" "O-Ring" = O-ring (in English, with an uppercase "O", a hyphen and a lowercase "r") "Gasanzünder" = "gas lighter" "Schutzbrille" = "protective/safety goggles/glasses", "eye protectors" or eye preservers (all this is from Ernst, but I would take "protective goggles" as the best compromise) (The above terms, spellings and capitalization have now been confirmed by NODE & Ernst) HTH - Dan |

hexagonal key Explanation: I have not been able to find the documentation for this, but I remember that Imbus was a kind of trade name in Germany and Imbusschlüssel became a generic term for hexagonal keys. These are often supplied in various sizes, attached to a key ring. |
