German term or phrase: Isothermglühanlagen
One part of these two questions is another item of a long list of about 80 products in the range of a company that deals primarily with conveyors, hopper charging elevators and other materials handling and processing equipment.

"Abkühlbänder (Isothermglüh-/BY-Anlagen)"

The following sentence also appears in another part of the text:

"Stahl-Scharnierplattenbänder bilden auch die Förderelemente in Wärmebehandelungsanlagen z.B. bei der BY-Umwandelung (der gezielten Abkühlung aus der Schmiedehitze"

I understand and can translate most of this except for the abbreviation "BY" and the word "Isothermglühanlagen".

Ernst – Wörterbuch der industriellen Technik shows "Isothermschmieden" as "isothermal hot-die forging" which also sounds great but does not help me much.

(My spellchecker always wants to put an "e" between "Isotherm" and "glüh" or "schmieden" but you can't trust those Microsofties.)

"isothermal radiation units" and "BY-transformation units" have a nice ring to them but are probably dead wrong.

Any ideas????

isothermal annealing facility
Explanation:
Cornelsen gives 'annealing installation' for 'Glühanlage' (also 'heater plug installation', but in the context of transport)

Here are some sources on the subject:

Two points were not clear for me:

Is it "isothermal" or "isothermic"? Two to one among your answers and 141 to 2 for AltaVista queries led me to choose "isothermal".

Did I need "facilities", "units", "furnaces" or "ovens" together with "isothermal annealing"? There were no hits for "isothermal (or isothermic) annealing" together with any of the four terms so I took Ken's "facilities" as the safest translation for "Anlagen".

Thanks - Dan

isothermal annealing furnaces

Explanation:
This is from experience with the bearing manufacturer I work for, and also from a heat treatment glossary, which I unfortunately forgot to bring with me. I will copy down the information for you next week and send it to you - should prove useful for future reference!
