flame cutting

If the Trennschneiden is feuergefaerlich, as your text says, then mechanical cutting cannot apply, although I accept that this is what the dictionaries say.

Flame cutting is the generic term for cutting by heat, whether the heat is generated by plasma or by the more old-fashioned method of burning acetylene in the presence of oxygen (oxy-acetylene torch)

severance cutting work

I can only tell you what the dictionary below provides under (Schweiß). It also lists disintegrating cut. Note: for the previous question I listed the wrong dictionary - should be the same as below.

severance cutting

There is a free dictionary on the web which is surprisingly similar to the Ernst Wörterbuch der Industriellen Technik, which Kim mentioned!
Here is the url:

http://www.tecnologix.net/laixicon/
Trennschnitt = severance cut, separating cut

In addition, I found the following parallel texts:

http://www.buhler.ch/tpb/de/span.asp
http://www.buhler.ch/tpb/en/span.asp

where they mention: mechanical parting (trennschneiden), although I agree with Kim's version.
