Der Basiszähler soll durch ein MSB-Modul (MUC-Controller) zu einem Messsystem erweitert werden können, das im einfachsten Fall den Eintarif- oder Zweitarifzähler über ein entsprechendes MSB-Modul fernauslesen werden kann. Im Extremfall kann es aber auch *¼-h-Lastgänge* erfassen und weiterleiten, falls dies für Abrechnungszwecke bei komplexen Tarifen erforderlich ist.
