Le tableau est placé entre le couronnement et la vo×te. On le dit normal quand il est incliné vers l'arrière, inverse en cas contraire-; certains navires ont un tableau vertical, plan ou courbe. Sur le tableau sont inscrits, en général, les noms du navire et de son port d'attache.
