non so quanto la questione sia tecnica - se più sul generico si potrebbe tradurre: "...(il materiale trasparente).. può essere neutro/incolore o a colori/colorato" e quindi tralasciando il termine "hinterlegt", altrimenti: "... o foderato a colori/ con fodera colorata"
quanto sopra mi pare corrisponda più al contesto; in genere infatti l'espressione "farblich hinterlegen" (cfr web reference qui sotto)si usa nel senso di "evidenziare tramite una caratterizzazione a colori", p.es. nell'ambito di un testo quando si evidenziano diversi termini con diversi colori oppure quando si vuole definire dei termini accostandoli ad un argomento/una caratterstica... utilizzando una diversa colorazione (proprio come si fa "a mano" con gli evidenziatori di diverso colore);
...e quindi potrebbe anche darsi che, nella fattispecie, una diversa colorazione del materiale trasparente stia a segnalare una precisa caratteristica dello stesso..

Explanation:
wenn es nicht gerade darauf ankommt, dass es (so verstehe ich es) zwei Schichten sind, eine farblose und dahinter eine Schicht mit Farbpigmenten, passt colorato glaube ich auch - ändern tut's eh nix! ;-)

  -> hhhmmm... bei Kunststoffen werden diesem ja eher Pigmente beigefügt, als dass er angepinselt wird...
