Sie zeugt von der technologische Innovation, ökonomischen Prosperität und kulturellen Entwicklung des Ausrichterlandes sowie von dessen politischer Potenz und < eigenstaatlichem Selbstverständnis> . Dies war bei der letzten Expo 2010 in Shanghai nicht anderes als bei der ersten Weltausstellung, die 1851 in London stattfand.

Explanation:
"Selbstverständnis" significa più o meno "l'immagine/concezione che si ha di se stessi".
"Eigenstaatlichkeit" = sovranità, condizione di stato sovrano/indipendente

Anche "identità" o - raro - "autoconcezione/auto-concezione".


Anche se credo che in realtà vogliano dire "identità nazionale".
