The torque which can be effectively transferred by the screwdriver to the screw head depends on the prevailing screwdriving conditions. A distinction is made between hard and soft screwdriving conditions.

Das vom Schrauber auf den Schraubenkopf aufgebrachte wirksame Drehmoment ist abhängig vom Schraubfall. Es wird zwischen hartem und weichem Schraubfall unterschieden.

Harter Schraubfall (extrem):
Kurze metrische Stahlschraube wird in ein bereits fertig geschnittenes Gewinde eingeschraubt, bis der Sechskantkopf auf der stählernen Unterlage aufliegt und angezogen ist.

Weicher Schraubfall (extrem):
Gipskarton wird mittels einer Bohrschraube mit Trompetenkopf auf Fichtenholz geschraubt.

Zwischen dem harten und dem weichen Schraubfall liegen praktisch unendlich viele Variationsmöglichkeiten. Bei gleicher Einstellung des Schraubers wird im harten Schraubfall das höchste, im weichen Schraubfall das niedrigste Drehmoment übertragen.
