C. psoralioides DC.) wird im Englischen Guar bean, Siam bean, Calcutta bean oder der engen Fruchtstдnde wegen auch Cluster bean genannt. Es handelt sich um eine einjдhrige Leguminose, deren Hauptnutzung in der Erzeugung von Gummiarabikum aus den Kцrnern besteht. Sie wird 1 bis 2, manchmal auch bis 3 m hoch, hat einen krдftigen hohlen Haupttrieb mit einer mehr oder weniger ausgeprдgten Verzweigung. Der Grad der Verzweigung ist stark sortenabhдngig.
