Als zusätzliche Absturzsicherung besitzt das Teleskop oberhalb eine Nocke am beweglichen Teleskopteil. In diese greift zur Sicherung ein schwenkbarer Klauenarm.
Um das Teleskop abzulassen, muss dieser um seinen Aufhängepunkt weggeschwenkt werden. Dies geschieht mit Hilfe eines externen Betätigers, der die Rolle am Klauenarm nach rechts drückt. Damit wird die Nocke frei. Sobald sich der Betätiger entfernt, sorgt eine Feder für ein Rückspringen des Klauenarmes, und das Teleskop ist wieder gesichert.
