Art/Literary

This is a quote taken from Michael Frieds "Kunst und Objekthaftigkeit"(I need help on this term - Objekthaftigkeit- as well, but I'll ask in a seperate question).

It seems to be part of a quote, in fact, which makes it difficult for me to understand, but perhaps someone whold like to give it a try?
Thanks for any help!

Probably \"theatrics\" is a better word than either theatricallness or theatricalism. Sorry
