German term or phrase: eingeschriebene Umrißzeichnung
Actually, the "Umrißzeichnung" is OK; it's the "eingeschrieben" I'm having trouble with. About a drawing by Picasso: "Das vorliegende Pastell...kombiniert amorphe Flächen mit eingeschriebener Umrißzeichnung."

English translation:added or superimposed
Explanation:
The Duden does not mention drawing among the meanings of einscreiben. But Ernst does (W. der industriellen Technik)" though of course in an engineering context: einschreiben: "draw or write ... into a design"

Explanation:
it is a bit like "engraved" which of course is too strong, it is not scratched into the painting but "inserted".
