Term appears in a text which deals with repairing vehicles.
The term "lackieren" is clear to me but what "anlackieren" means is still unclear to me. Is it something to do with how the paint is applied?

Thanks, your answer fits quite well as we are definitely dealing with sections of existing paintwork. Not listed in any dictionaries I have looked at so far either - a very specific term.
