German term or phrase: Metallrücken
"Der Metallrücken der hinteren Rückbank wird als 'nicht mehr zeitgemäß' betrachtet"

From an automotive market research report - in this case describing what respondents dislike about the vehicle interior.

I'm not entirely sure what is meant by "Metallrücken" here and would appreciate any
explanations or suggestions.

Many thanks

Normally it's frowned upon to grade before 24 hours are up, but given the emphatic agrees and the fact that I am just about to send my translation off, it's probably best to award the points straight away. That's the last of these questions, though, and thanks to everyone for their valuable help.
