Further to my previous answer,


Explanation:
and after making some more checks, I must say that I'm not happy with the term 'predecessor company' as translation of 'Vorgeselschaft', even when -apparently- some dictionaries state it as such.

A predecessor company is a company like Geophysical Service, which was 'the predecessor company of Texas Instruments'.
The meaning of 'predecessor company' in the above sentence obviously doesn't fit with the (correct:-))explanation given by a.o. Gem and myself.

Hence, I stick to 'pre-incorporated company'.
