holding company Explanation: You're right; it's a holding company. As you see from the examples below, German often just refers to this as "die Holding". Beteiligung and Holding would be used interchangeably here (cf. below). Hope this helps! holding/participation Explanation: I have no dispute with 'holding', or with the claim that 'Beteiligungsgesellschaft' is synonymous with 'Holding', but I do not agree the 'Beteiligung' on its own means 'holding'. It means participation, this is what a holding does with respect to its subsidiaries and realted companies, eg 'X Holding acquires a 25% participation in company Y'. |
