German term or phrase: Kompetenzteam
A person is described as belonging to a Kompetenzteam Film + Fernsehen. Competency team is as far as I know not a common expression in US English. I have considered project team. A person in charge of a project is the project manager and is the one with competency in the subject matter.
I have also encountered this title of a person or his/her branch: logistics core competence. Again, maybe this is UK English?

The word competence/competency is very current in business management contexts (e.g. core competency/competency, competence centers). And [core] competence/competency team(s) occurs often enough to use the term, which would be immediately understood by the reader.

Explanation:
I found "competence" many times so you could perhaps use it but to give an alternative: Kompetenzträger can be translated as key personnel or key member of staff

Explanation:
it is the only thing that sounds right, except that it is not really a title.
Their "Kompetenzteam" has a sort of department ring to it. But maybe you will just have to drop that nuance.

Explanation:
the German language adopts thousands of english words every year. Combinations of those 'denglisch' words are often not very explicit.

Hope you like my re-adoption.
