German term or phrase: Politik
I'm translating a report by German company's task force on electrosmog. I'm not sure whether "Politik" should be translated as "politics" or "policy" here:

"Die _Politik_ (z. B. Deutschland, Italien, EU) sucht in der EMF (elektromagnetische Felder)-Thematik ein neues politisches Aktionsfeld."

Also, the task force is involved in the
"Vertretung der Unternehmensinteressen in _Politik_ und Normung."

What do you think, "politics" or "policy"?

Danke!

English translation:politics and policies
Explanation:
For the first instance (Die Politik sucht...), I'd be sorely tempted to use "politicians", it surely sounds like it's the politicians who looking for a new endeavor.

Alternatively, you might wish to turn the sentence around (skirt the issue altogether) and phrase it along the lines of "EMF has become a new field for political action in Germany, Italy, EU"

In my opinioin, the second instance should read "policies" as guidelines and standards are being discussed.

politics / policy

Explanation:
In the first case I would use politics, and policy in the second one.

In the first case, because it refers to countries and their politics.

In the second case, because it refers to plicies and regulations of a company.

HTH! :-)

Politics

Explanation:
As the later line proposes, the company is involved in the "politik" and "normung", it can only be politics.
