German term or phrase: Diplompruefung
Universitätszeugnis

English translation:Examination results....in relation to the academic degree of BA or BSc
Explanation:
Depending on the subject, a "Diplom" from a German university is equivalent to either a "BA" or "BSc" in the British or Australian system (I am not sure about the US system). Normally, at a German university you would be required to complete a thesis to obtain a "Diplom" degree. For this, the English term would then be "BSc (Hon)" or "BA (Hon)".

In the British system, a "graduate diploma" or "diploma" is usually a degree which requires only 2-3 years of study, while a Diplom from a German University requires usually at least 4.5 years.

Seeing that you mention it requires 4.5 years to complete a Diplomprüfung in Germany, then the equivalent would be a Master degree in the US. Generally speaking the levels in the US are somewhat lower than in Europe, e.g., a US high-school diploma is less than an Abiturexamen, a master degree is less than a full-fledged Universitätsabschluss comprising four years of course work, etc.

Explanation:
You mention "Zeugnis"; I take it, then, that this term appears as an item in such a Zeugnis, correct? If that's the case, you should definitely go with "diploma examination".

If you mean the whole thing, just call it "diploma" - but more context would be needed.
