English translation: this does not equal a shifting of costs, but rather in parts an increase in profit

Do the last 2 sentences starting from "die pauschale Anhebung...." make logical sense to anyone? If so, can you just give me the gist of of what they're on about. This is part of a letter from one company to another protesting about cost increases. Thank you.

English translation:this does not equal a shifting of costs, but rather in parts an increase in profit
Explanation:

They're saying that cost increases force the company to be more efficient. This increase in efficiency will lead to higher profitability.

This of course is only marginally logical, because it is difficult to lower costs to such an extent that they exceed cost increases from suppliers.

agree  Dierk Widmann: With the 1st sentence. However, the suppliers are supposed to do the same, not increase their costs, if my reading is correct.
