German to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Business/Commerce (general) / Interior Design
German term or phrase:Ihrer Atmosphäre Form geben - das können Sie von uns erwarten.
This is from a marketing brochure/site for interior designers (hotels).
I am looking for a particularly catchy phrase.(BE rather than AE).
I have some ideas, but am not really happy with any of them. Greatful for any suggestions. Thanks Carola
I agree with Stephen's last comment. People do not have atmospheres or ambiences but they can create them, and since it is anyway the ambience of the hotel that is in question, it would distort the meaning of the source sentence to render it in that way.
I'm not keen on using "your ambience" or "your atmosphere" and would make it impersonal by using the definite article. Your suggestion of "A design to capture your ambience/atmosphere" sounds slightly comical - perhaps it's just me, but I can imagine a camp comic coming up with something like that on a Friday night Channel 4 programme in the UK.
I, too, think it better to leave the second part of the sentence out, but have come up with one or two other ways of suggesting it - please see my post. I also agree with Stephen that it could be rendered impersonally somehow: Design to suit any ambience.
A Design to Capture Your Ambience.
You can expect it from us.
.... is my last offering, anybody bidding higher?...
Thanks to everybody for helping me along this stony path. ;-) Helen, I think you have earned your points for triggering my grey matter. Any more comments? Regards Carola
Where exactly does Arthur Dent come into this? No seriously, where does it itch? My problem is to express that they are capturing something in shape which is intangible, if you know what I mean. The shaping (literally-giving shape to/expressing/reflecting- the atmosphere/ambience in that hotel.
Design to capture your hotel's ambience / the ambience of your hotel
Explanation: I don't think the latter half of the slogan is easily rendered into sophisticated EN. You could perhaps say: 'Our design captures the ambience of your hotel', but even that seems de trop.

How about ' We promise our design will capture the ambience of your hotel' - to try and give some flavour of expecting it from them, which I find too clumsy. Or 'We deliver on design that truly captures a/your hotel's ambience.' Or 'You can trust us to find a design to capture your hotel's ambience'. Or 'Trust us to create a design to match your h's a', etc., etc. Someone stop me before I bore everyone to death....

Asker: Dear Helen, thanks so much for your thoughts on this. I would have loved to split the points, but I do not think that this is possible. I let the customer cast the final vote and they went for the very free version of polyglot 45. I hope I can help you with some German one day. Regards Carola
