Americans tend to give impressive titles and almost anyone wearing an uniform should be addressed as "officer". It doesn't mean that junior paramedics know a whole lot more than the basics of First Aid.

But it really doesn't seem to matter anymore. Question closed.

Probably not only medical but they might also play an active role when other calamities occur (fire, etc).

Yes. When posting a KudoZ question, askers are given the option to restrict their KudoZ questions by 1) profile information (native language, language pair and field) and 2) membership status.

If the asker selects the option "Only ProZ.com members may answer" when posting his/her question, the "Answer" button will not be visible to non-members and the following message will show to them:

I've encountered this a couple of times before in other language combinations. That's the deal here: you have to pay to be allowed to help others for free...

.. I ticked "members only" by mistake. I've changed it but apparently modifications need to be accepted by a moderator. By the way, the girl needs the document for the United States, and it seems to be a bit more than "first aid".

I don't have proper box, but there are 2 little buttons with answer and post reference below the discussion area. Seems strange that a non-native paying member like me can suggest answer, but a non-paying native can't, maybe there is malfunction somewhere.

@ Andrew: I am not allowed as non native speaker, but it says I can suggest a translation if I like. As non-paying member, are you actually unable to enter suggestion, or do just prefer not to? By the way, I think your answer is correct, at least for UK.
