German term or phrase: Auftropfen
"Das Auftropfen der Lösung bzw. des Lösungsmittels mithilfe von Spritzen kann visuell über einen Spiegel (4), der ebenfalls an der Frontseite angebracht ist beobachtet werden."

From the description of a vapor pressure osmometer's cell unit. I think I know what "Auftropfen" is describing, but just can't think of the English word and the dictionaries are not helping. TIA for your assistance.
