German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Computers: Software / CAD (CATIA)
German term or phrase:SAFE-Topf
Nach Freigabe werden die V4 Modelle automatisch in den entsprechenden SAFE-Topf verschoben.
(Re. adding CAD files to an SAP document master record.)
The obvious thing that springs to mind is "SAFE pot", but I can't find anything to corroborate this. Can anyone confirm or provide the correct term?
To a programmer, Speicher means memory, but 'Speichern' and "Speichern als' are the German menu commands equivalent to 'Save' and 'Save as' in English. At a guess, 'Topf' probably means a memory area allocated to a specific function or for a specific purpose, but in this context it probably amounts to a (temporary) directory. Maybe you can find something useful in English CATIA terminoloyg.
Seems likely, since it later says: Nach dem Ablehnen einer Freigabe sollen die Modelle automatisch in einen für den Konstrukteur zugänglichen „Reject - Speichertopf“ verschoben werden. What would "Speichertopf" be though? "Save dump" perhaps? Surely not "Save pot"?
'Topf' sounds suspiciously like programmer jargon, although a literal translation might be OK if the register is suitable, and SAFE probably reflects the tendency of programmers to copy the typographic style of their code in their writing.
