German term or phrase: Aufdatung

In an IT context (software specification) the heading "Datenmigration und Aufdatung" occurs. The explanation I've been given for "Aufdatung" is "Erstbefüllung mit vorhandenen, inhaltlich vernünftigen Daten"; the translation I've already used is "initial provision of data", although I'm wondering whether an IT term for this exists or whether it could be rendered differently. Any help appreciated!

Thanks to all of you for your replies. In the context, "loading of data" (i.e. loading of new data) seems to make the most sense, although there is something to be said for some of the other replies. It's a pity I can't split the points!
