What about " dient " in this sentence? Maybe " serve the purpose of " ? I translated a medical text once which I remember very well. " Naehte in Parenchymatoesen Organen dienen der Blutstillung ". My corrected translation was " Sutures in parenchymatous organs serve the purpose of haemostasis". " Serve the purpose of " was deemed correct in that instance, so logic dictates it will be the same here. Keep in mind I have no leeway whatsoever. Any thoughts?
