German term or phrase: fenstern
Software instructions for a hospital PACS system.

Can this be "windowing"? (The user interface is windows based and images need to be displayed on several partitioned monitors)

Window definition sounds much more user-friendly and far more appropriate for a learning programme. Makes perfect sense here. Thanks!

agree  Tobi: yes, but windowing could be possible since fenstern sounds as a direct translation from windowing

agree  jccantrell: My choice, too. Sounds like they had the developer also write the instructions!

  -> Right, another manual you can throw away.

agree  Hilary Davies Shelby: yes, but I would use the active voice as this is an instruction manual "You can define windows in a number of different ways".

  -> Good idea.

agree  Manfred Mondt: I actually thought she meant "fensterln", that is against the law!
