German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering
German term or phrase: Sanibox mit Rosette
Term appearing in brochure for plumbing system:
some kind of toilet cistern
buckel
Local time: 13:00
English translation:See below
Explanation:
The Rosette is an escutcheon.
Escutcheon - Usually a decorative metal trim ring that goes around a pipe where it comes out of a wall, to improve the appearance.
http://www.robertmfg.com/specs7.html

When I saw the definition of escutcheon, I rembered that it's called a Rosette in the trade. (I have a cousin who is heavily into anything that has to do with building and construction, and he knows all the termini technici).

BTW, the Robert Mfg. site contains a useful glossary of plumbing terms.

That was the easy part. The Sanibox is elusive. Be sure to take a look at the following website, it includes a picture of all kinds of fittings, but none resembling a box.
"Die Palette der neuen Messingteile umfaßt T-Wandwinkel für Unterputz-Spülkästen sowie Wandwinkel mit Flansch und Durchgang.
Ebenso wurden ½-Zoll Verlängerungen und verschiedene Gewinde- und Lötübergänge ins Programm genommen sowie eine speziell für den Schallschutz ausgelegte Sanibox."
www.wuerth.de/germany/presse/fach_prineto.html
The Wuerth site also has an English version, as well as an online catalog that you can browse even if you don't intend to order. (I wasn't able to get anywhere with the catalog - no doubt due to my own ineptitude - maybe you'll have better luck).

As you surmised, the Sanibox is some sort of a cistern. And eventhough Ernst lists cistern -> Spülkasten, it might be the safest choice. Since Würth touts the fact that their Sanibox is designed for Schallschutz, I would assume that it's a part that is, as it were, "close to the surface".

Not much of an answer, I'm afraid, but I hope it provides a few new leads.

sanitary deposit with knob

Explanation:
yes I agree it refres to a toilet cistern ( the deposit of the water to be flushed).
I would translate it:
sanitary tank/deposit with knob
The knob being the button you have to pull or push in order to flush the water

Does it make sense in your context??
