German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Magazine article describing the addition of 3 floors to a building
German term or phrase: 16-er
I should know this, but I'm having translator's block. The sentence is:
Bei diesen niedrigen Bauhöhen, 16-er Hohldiele und 20 cm hoher ***, ist die Möglichkeit einer innen¬liegenden Brandbewehrung sicherlich ein großer Vorteil.

Is it 16-inch?

It is somewhat unlikely that a German text would be referring to 16 inches without explicitly stating that inches were meant.

Of course, if your text does explicitly refer to inches elsewhere, then 16 inches would correspond to the 40 cm also referred to in the reference given above:

"in Deutschland zugelassenen Deckenelemente weisen Höhen von 160 bis 400 mm auf und können Stützweiten bis zu 15 m überbrücken."
