Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Load tests to determine structural behaviour of walls
German term or phrase: Haltepausen
nb. fourth of a series of five or six questions re. the same text
The relevant paragraph describes deformation tests performed at timber wall elements/components, specifically referring to deformation cycles listed in a table. Here goes (term in ***):
"Anzahl der Verformungszyklen mit extremen Auslenkungen der Lastschiene von +/- mm" (listed deformation cycles: "1, 2, 2d, 3, 4, 4d, 8, 8d, 12, 16, 24, 32", where the figures presumably stand for the +/- mm range)
Comment under table:
"Die ohne den Zusatz d versehenen extremen Auslenkungen 1, 2, 4 ... bezeichnen jeweils ein quasi statisches Auslenkungspaar mit ***Haltepausen*** von 10 s während der extremen Auslenkungen..."
My attempts: hold intervals, retention intervals
I'm specifically looking for an AE term, if any.
MTIA once again for your help,
English translation:holding times
As you say: "Haltepausen von 10 s während der extremen Auslenkungen" seems to indicate that load is applied also during the Haltepausen. I think so too, but am not 100% sure - which is why I asked of course.
I this case, I'd opt for "holding times"
Selected response from:
Local time: 12:23
Still not sure about this one as the end customer failed to give feedback on several occasions. I provisionally used "holding intervals" so we've been at least thinking along the same lines. Thanks, Gillian.
