Notes to answerer
Asker: this is difficult as I dont think we have this in our system, so I think teachers is the closest

Asker: I think teachers may be too general

Asker: sorry, dont think this fits the bill, difficult, as not sure we have the term over here

agree  Lancashireman: Oh, another way of saying 'pedagogues' then? // In the light of Dr Timm’s reservations, this is beginning to sound more like an ‘educationist’. Also forms a nice pairing with your ‘educator’ on asker’s previous question.

agree  David Moore: And "teachers", Andrew....Why make it easy when with a little effort you can made it ****** impossible...

Specialist/expert on elementary school didactics

Explanation:

-> Danke f. d. Bestätigung/ an UK/CAN/US Unis scheint d.

neutral  Lancashireman: “Those who can, do; those who can't, teach; and those who can’t teach become didacticians.” http://www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/12/messages/654.htm... // Not while ‘didactics’ is part of the headline: ‘teaching and learning styles’, ‘method(ology)’ etc
