German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng / from a novel
This is a description of someone trying to break into a house through the air vents. It's from a Krimi/thriller.
I've got "I loosened the mount of the electrical hook-up for one of the ventilators", but I'm not sure about it. I might be misunderstanding and am having trouble visualising what it means. Thanks for any help.
Strictly, die Befestigung is the fastening or mounting, not the connector or cable itself. However, since he then writes "sich ... immer langsamer drehte" he must have meant that he disconnected the power (i.e. mains) supply, so I agree with Andrew.

the power supply to one of the ventilators/fans
Explanation: I disconnected the power supply to one of the ventilators (or 'huge fans')
IMO, this level of detail is all the reader requires for the purpose of following the narrative.

Thanks Andrew. I was getting too bogged down in the detail.
