This equipment measures the intensity/ radius of a bolt of lightning.

Does 'lightning impulse testing procedure' fit?! I thought of plasma sphere, but it is more of a recreational gadget.

agree  Ken Cox: The Hüllkurve in this case is the boundary curve (the cross-section of the edge of the sphere) as shown on the drawing on page 4 of your first ref or (e.g.) Fig. 5.1.1.7 of your second ref.
