thrust piece
Explanation:
A 'Zange' is basically pincers or forceps. It can also mean 'piece' or 'hand'. For example, those used in robotics:

http://www.gemwelding.com/gem_de/pinze_de/G01.htm

This is also confirmed by my Siemens FWbuch industrielle Elektrotechnik...

Schub means shear, transverse force or axial thrust.

I searched for thrust pieces used in braking mechanisms. (Your phrase reads: "According to this design, both thrust pieces can be used alternately as parking brakes or positioning elements").

I found this site:
http://www.icon.co.za/~gosa/11_MT_Disc_Brake.htm

You can see 'thrust pieces' used in disk brakes.

and this one:

7 hrs
pressure tongs

Explanation:
I believe the (pair of) tongs do not move (push or similar) it's the jaws of these pressure tongs that move to create the braking or positioning/locking pressure for the axle on which the turbine is mounted.
The word 'shub' is therefore related to the mechanism creating the pressure of the jaws.
