I think you may have a typo in your document. If it is a "Seegerring", I usually call this "snap ring" in (U.S.) English. I believe the British prefer "circlip".

As you might imagine I was figuratively banging my head against the walls of my translator's box trying to find this term, but of course the answer was outside of the box as you point out. Incidentally, it was my friend Phil Tomlinson who asked about another misspelling of Seegerring a few weeks ago (Segerring I think). We worked together at Volkswagen of America. Thanks again.
