German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general)
German term or phrase: Frontloadingumfänge
Context:

Frontloadingumfänge sind Prio 1 Bauteile oder Module die als Langlaufteile aufgrund hoher inhaltlicher Komplexität und/oder innovativer Konzeptneuauslegung zur Erreichung einer erprobungswürdigen Qualität in der Vorprototypenphase eine vorverlagerte intensive Konzeptabsicherung mit entsprechender Eigenkapazität und Serienlieferanteneinbindung benötigen.

English translation:High-upfront-cost items
Explanation:
Front-loading means "concentrating costs or benefits in an early period", and that appears to make sense in the context here - it's talikng about components that require a high level of initial investment due to their compexity and/or novelty. I can't find it used in German in the way it is here, but if it is a coinage, the explanation I am proposing seems feasible. (I am assuming it is nothing to do with washing machines!)
