German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general)
German term or phrase: biegeelastisch/biegesteif
In a patent relating to a Selbsnivelierendes Gerät the terms Meßsystemträger occurs: "... wirbelstromgedämpften Pendel montiert ist, das mittels einer Schraubenfeder über eine biegeelastische/biegesteife Aufhängung befestigt ist."

Thanks very much!

English translation:flexible/rigid
Explanation:
flectionally elastic / deflection resistant

biegeelastisch = flectionally elastic

biegesteif = deflection resistant,
resistant to bending, rigid

deflection resistant/flexible

Explanation:
This is for biegesteif. Also resistant to bending. I would say flexible for biegeelastisch

bending elastic / bending resistant suspension

Explanation:
biegen = to bend
elastisch = elastic
biegeelastisch = which bends in abn elastic way, ie not only bendable but tha comes back to the previous position if the constraint disappears. Flexible does not necessarily mean that.

steif = rigid, not flexible.
biegesteif = that resists to bending constraints. For me deflection is here inappropriate, it would be OK for a rod that is fixed at both extremities and that you try to bend by applying a force in the middle (Durchbiegung).
