German term or phrase: Elektrodenteilfläche
From a text about RF surgery - describing a "Stromasymmetriesensor" (I'm assuming that's "voltage assymetry sensor?!), "...der...eine Differenz durch die Elektrodenteilflächen fließender HF-Ströme erfasst".

Ernst has "reference area" - does "electrode reference areas" make sense??

partial electrode areas
Explanation:
"... the membrane as well as the lower electrode have to be divided into s × s partial areas..."
(different context, but possibly OK)

The reference in Ernst is for gears. I would have reservations to use it.

Thanks - the client thought "electrode areas" or "electrode surfaces" was OK, so I went with "surfaces".
