This is the pipe-like gizmo that the slat curtain (if that is the right term, see my other questions on this subject) is rolled around up in the roller shutter box. It is 60 – 70 mm in diameter and may have a motor or axle inside or springs like a window shade. The length will depend on the window width, perhaps one to three meters.

I have a few possibilities from dictionaries and the Net but no clear favorite:

roller drum / shaft / drum / roller / tube / tubular shaft or whatever

Any suggestions?

TIA

Dan, roller drums are used in shutters (see link below) and rolling/sliding window treatments made of louvers/slats

This is another one where there seems to be no clear-cut winner but roller drum is what I finally wrote.

Thanks everybody,

Dan

roller

Explanation:
Hi Dan,

Roller seems straightforward, easy to understand, and used my manufacturers, as well. Plus, it denotes one of the two parts for which these things are named.

Cheerio,

Explanation:
roller drum sounds good to me, but I have also seen axle, take-up, and for both strap and gear operated shutters, Alutech uses "octagonal tube," see below:
