German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Furniture / Household Appliances
German term or phrase: Einlegeboden
This is from a cabinetmaker's brochure. Description of a Nachttisch (night table I assume).

It says the night table is 'ohne Bettischplatte', mit 2 Tueren, einem Einlegeboden...einem offenem Fach und einer Schublade...Oberplatte mit Schichtstoff HPL 8 mm beschichtet. Kanten der Oberplatte mit abgerundetem Massivholzanleimer. Schublade und Tueren mit beschichteten Stahlbuegelgriffen.

Explanation:
This is just a suggestion. However, a Einlegeboden definitely refers to a piece of wood (etc.) that is put into a drawer, cabinet, etc. to provide the "flooring, sole, basis, etc. (I do not have a better term for its purpose right now)"

night stand

Explanation:
nachttisch is a table that is placed by the bed. I would call that a night stand, like and end table for the bedroom.

disagree  Martin Schneekloth: that would be translation for nachttisch

  -> exactly!

disagree  Roland Grefer: this is about the shelf board inside, not about the night stand itself.

a display shelf

Explanation:
Duden's Bildwoerterbuch reveals the Einlegeboden is a shelf installed in a cabinet or display case. It is not the bottom shelf that is also the bottom of the cabinet. It is a shelf that is inserted to provide additional shelf space.

(adjustable) board / inlay

Explanation:
An "Einlegeboden" typically is an (adjustable) board/inlay inside a cabinet, thus suggesting that this one is behind the two doors.

A "display shelf" would usally be referred to as a "Regalbrett" or "Regaleinlage".

-> just checked; it does not appear to be an inlay (that's rather "(mit) Einlegearbeit"

agree  William Meyer: Yes, but I think inlay is einGElegt.
